A multi-billion-dollar budget is proposed for Oklahoma's public schools. State Superintendent Joy Hofmeister presented the three billion dollar budget request to state lawmakers yesterday. The spending plan increases funding for schools by 191 million dollars, 110 million dollars of which will make up for budget cuts from last year. In addition, the state department of education has requested 18 million dollars to hire additional school counselors.
