Florida Democratic Congressman Jared Moskowitz revealed that he was the target of an antisemitic assassination plot leading up to the 2024 presidential election. The suspect, a former felon, was arrested near Moskowitz's home in possession of a rifle, a suppressor, and body armor. A manifesto found with the suspect contained antisemitic rhetoric and listed only Moskowitz's name on a target list.

The congressman was informed about the potential plot on his life the day before the election. According to The Daily Beast, Moskowitz beat his Republican opponent, Joe Kauffman, to keep his seat representing Florida’s 23rd congressional district.

Moskowitz is one of 13 members of a task force investigating the attempted assassination of Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania. In his statement, Moskowitz expressed concern about the security of Congressional members, especially when they are in their districts. He thanked law enforcement agencies for their work and did not disclose further details to avoid interfering with the ongoing investigation.

The Margate Police Department has not commented on the incident. This plot follows several other attempts to kill key political figures in the U.S., most notably Donald Trump. On Friday, it was revealed that three people have been charged in New York with an alleged Iran-backed plot to assassinate the President-elect prior to the election.
