The FBI says it is investigating an apparent assassination attempt on Donald Trump at his West Palm Beach golf club earlier today. Trump has confirmed that he is safe and unharmed. Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw reported that U.S. Secret Service agents engaged a man near the Trump International golf course armed with an AK-style rifle equipped with a scope. The former President was playing golf at the time. Officials say the gunman, who also had two backpacks and a GoPro camera, was positioned about 400 to 500 yards from Trump, concealed in shrubbery. After dropping the weapon, the suspect fled in an SUV and was later apprehended in a neighboring county.

"Cindy and I are praying for President Trump's safety after today's disturbing incident and we are grateful for the Secret Service's swift response. Violence has no place in our society," said U.S. Senator James Lankford.

"As we await additional details regarding the incident in Palm Beach, Christie and I are extending our prayers to President Trump and his family. Very glad to hear he is safe," said U.S. Senator Markwayne Mullin.

“Thank God President Trump is safe. As we continue to wait for more details, one thing is for certain: President Trump will never stop fighting for the American people. Please join me in praying for continued Providential protection for President Trump,” said Congressman Josh Brecheen.

"Join Tammy and me in lifting President Trump and his family up in prayer. We are relieved that he is safe and are grateful for the Secret Service's swift action in protecting him," said Congressman Kevin Hern.
