A search for two people who opened fire on police officers in Tennessee ended after their mother turned them in. Officials with the Holly Springs Police Department said that an officer tried to pull over a vehicle around 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday (April 2) morning.

The driver refused to pull over. Instead, they sped away and started driving toward Memphis. As the officer pursued the vehicle, somebody in the vehicle fired two shots, striking the officer's patrol car.

After coming under fire, the officer pulled back and stopped chasing after the car.

Investigators said that one of the suspects was seen getting out of the vehicle and running into a wooded area. The two suspects were later spotted about 50 miles away on a Ring camera in Red Banks, Mississippi.

Officers responded to the area, but the two men ran into the woods.

Officials released their photos to the media, asking the public for help identifying them. Their mother saw the picture and brought them to the police station.

Authorities did not identify the pair but said one is being charged as an adult while the other is being charged as a juvenile. They did not say what charges they are facing.
