Car Buyers Might Have To Pay More

By Beth Myers
May 24, 2017

The State House on Wednesday voted to remove the sales tax exemption on the purchase of motor vehicles. If signed into law, car buyers would pay the current 3.25% vehicle excise tax but also a 1.25% state sales tax.  The bill is expected to generate an estimated $111 million in revenue for state government. It now goes to the Senate.
