The University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University, as well as some school districts in the state, are among the schools impacted by a massive data breach.
The breach by a hacking group has caused widespread disruptions for schools across the country that use the learning platform Canvas.
Students trying to access the software - many of them dealing with finals - were met with a message from the hacking group Shiny-Hunters claiming responsibility.
The group was threatening to leak data held by Instructure - the parent company of Canvas - including student names, ID numbers, and email addresses for an estimated 275 million users across nearly nine-thousand educational institutions worldwide.
