Major storm damage is reported after a large tornado ripped through the Enid area tonight (April 23.) Garfield County officials said search and rescue efforts were underway and that a number of structures had been leveled in the Gray Ridge neighborhood off Highway 81. At least 10 people were reportedly hurt with minor injuries.

Officials at Vance Air Force Base say there was no major damage at the base, despite the tornado hitting nearby.

KFOR reported the Red Cross was staged on the west side of Chisholm Trail Expo Center in Enid according to the Garfield County Sheriff’s office.

Tornadoes were also reported in the Ponca City area.

Please join me in praying for the Enid community, which has been severely impacted by tonight’s tornado," said Governor Kevin Stitt in a post on X. "I have spoken with Enid’s local leaders and will continue working with them as they assess the damage and identify needs. My prayers are with everyone on Vance Air Force Base and the surrounding neighborhood, and I am asking God to bring healing and comfort in the days ahead. As storms continue to move across Oklahoma tonight, I urge everyone to stay weather aware, follow local warnings, and take shelter immediately when directed."

"Cindy and I are praying for all Oklahomans in harm’s way tonight as severe storms, damaging winds, and tornadoes move across our state," said U.S. Senator James Lankford in a post on X. "Please stay weather aware and follow local guidance to keep your family safe."
