The popular Texas-based travel center chain Buc-ee's is reportedly considering establishing its first Oklahoma location.

Kenny Tsoodle, CEO of the Alliance for Economic Development of Oklahoma City, confirmed talks have begun with the Texas-based convenience store giant.

The talks are described as preliminary exploratory discussions with no decisions being made.

Speculation has centered around a potential location at Interstate 40 and Cimarron Road, between El Reno and Yukon.

According to reports from KFOR, the Oklahoma Department of Transportation might need to rework the interchange to accommodate the significant traffic a Buc-ee's typically generates.

Buc-ee's representatives have declined to comment on the potential Oklahoma City location. However, the company previously announced in 2024 that it was looking to expand into bordering states, specifically mentioning Oklahoma as a target.

The chain is known for its massive travel centers featuring extensive fueling stations, clean restrooms, freshly made food, and branded merchandise. Currently, the closest Buc-ee's locations to Oklahoma are in Texas and Missouri.

The company operates primarily across the southern United States, with locations in Texas, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri, South Carolina, and Colorado.

For now, no formal plans have been announced, and multiple local government entities including El Reno, Yukon, and county commissioners have indicated they are not yet aware of specific development plans.
