A new grant program is helping communities across Oklahoma prepare for the 2026 Route 66 Centennial. Launched by Keep Oklahoma Beautiful, the Keep Route 66 Beautiful initiative will award up to $5,000 per project to improve the historic corridor. Funds can support everything from tree planting and garden creation to public art and cleanup efforts. Local businesses say the program could boost tourism and help towns along the route shine. Organizers hope the effort showcases Oklahoma's best as visitors from around the world arrive to celebrate the iconic highway.
