Severe Weather Moves Through Oklahoma

Severe weather pushed through Oklahoma overnight with Tornado Warnings issued in several areas.

A suspected tornado caused significant damage to multiple buildings in the downtown and old downtown areas of McAlester. The storm blew the roof off a vacant building that previously housed Catholic Charities. Additionally, Miller Glass Co. suffered broken windows and roof damage.

Power outages have been reported across McAlester and Pittsburg County, though no injuries have been confirmed.

Up to 80 mile per hour winds were reported in Grant County and significant tree damage was reported in Pond Creek.

Trees were also uprooted in Tonkawa and at least 2 structures had roof damage near Medford.

Heavy rain also led to flooding concerns. Many roads around the state were impacted by flooding.

At one point, more than 20,000 homes and businesses in the state were without power. As of 5 p.m. that number had been reduced to 7,400.
