An entire eight grade class in Oklahoma City is being asked to quarantine at home after the teacher tested positive for COVID-19.

FD Moon Middle School sent a letter to parents on Wednesday telling them that their kids classes will be virtual until the end of the week.

The letter didn't name the person who fell ill and only said that they are a "teacher or instructional staff member."

“In the meantime, all 8th graders at FD Moon should plan to log into Canvas for synchronous learning at home for the rest of the week. As a reminder, synchronous instruction means that students will receive live instruction from their teacher or teachers. Students should log in from home using their device and follow their normal class bell schedule,” the school said.

The school has also set up a drive-thru so parents can pick up breakfast and lunch for their students staying at home.

The eight graders will return to in-person learning on Monday, August 23, but students who show COVID-19 symptoms are being told to stay home and contact the school.

Earlier in the week, four small school districts in east Oklahoma closed due to COVID-19 cases among staff and students.
