Constitutional Change

House Speaker Pro Tempore Harold Wright of Weatherford has authored a bill to lower the number of votes required under the State Constitution for the Oklahoma Legislature to pass a revenue-raising measure. He wants to lower the number from three-fourths to three-fifths, or 60 percent, the same as a school bond issue. He's authored a bill to send the issue to a vote of the people. He says it would be a fair compromise and still make it difficult to raise revenue.
