OKC Fire Department Loses Canine Member

The Oklahoma City Fire Department has lost a special member. A 10-year-old Labrador retriever named Taz has succumbed to cancer. He began to limp earlier this year and was diagnosed with an aggressive bone cancer that spreads quickly. A Fire Department spokesman says Taz was an integral part of the department's search and rescue team and was one of the first canines to serve alongside an Oklahoma City Fire Department handler. Taz graduated from training and was partnered with Oklahoma City Firefighter Mark Edwards in 2008 and lived with Edwards' family.
