A new report from the National Transportation Research Group says rural roads and bridges in Oklahoma have significant deficiencies. The report says 22 percent of Oklahoma's rural roads are rated in poor condition, the 10th highest in the nation. Sixteen percent of Oklahoma's rural bridges are rated as structurally deficient. TRIP spokesman Rocky Moretti tells KTOK News the rate of traffic fatalities on Oklahoma's rural roads is two and a half times higher than the fatality rate on all other roads in the state.
