The State Senate Education Committee on Monday approved Republican Senator Ron Sharp's bill to lower the grade level from sixth to third at which students can be subject to out-of-school suspensions for violent behavior or threats. Sharp is a retired educator. He says student violence toward other students, teachers and school staff in Oklahoma elementary schools is a growing problem.
