Governor Kevin Stitt is seeking a COVID-19 vaccine mandate suspension for members of the Oklahoma National Guard. Stitt has sent a letter requesting the mandate suspension to U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin. The governor's office says an estimated 800 Oklahoma guardsmen have not received the COVID-19 vaccine or are not planning to get vaccinated. Stitt says it's irresponsible for the federal government to place mandatory vaccine obligations on national guardsmen that could potentially limit the number of people that he could call upon during an emergency.
