Dept. Of Education Sends Letter Criticizing Mask Mandate Ban In Schools

The U.S. Department of Education is voicing its opposition to the ban of mask mandates in Oklahoma schools. Education Secretary Miguel Cardona sent a letter to Governor Stitt and State Superintendent Joy Hofmeister yesterday, stating that Oklahoma's actions to block school districts from requiring face masks may infringe on federal law. Cardona added that the Education Department fully supports the school districts that are mandating face coverings in spite of the law. In response to the letter, Governor Stitt said "Oklahomans overwhelmingly believe parents should make decisions about their kids, not the government."
