Governor Rescinds Board Of Education Appointee

Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt is rescinding his latest nomination to the Oklahoma State Board of Education. The governor announced his decision yesterday to rescind his appointment of Melissa Crabtree. The appointment came under heavy criticism from several groups including the Oklahoma Educators Association because of Crabtree's lack of experience with Oklahoma's public education system, leading a group that opposes mask mandates and for promoting several conspiracy theories about the COVID-19 pandemic on social media. Crabtree released a statement saying that she determined that this is not the right opportunity for her to serve Oklahoma.
