A criminal justice reform initiative will be on the ballot this upcoming election. If passed in November, State Question 805 will bar judges and juries from considering past convictions during sentencing for non-violent offenders. Organizers say Oklahoma is ready for change, noting that almost 250,000 residents signed the petition to put the measure on the ballot. Opponents to the state question, including some district attorneys, say the measure is a "gift" for repeat offenders.
