Winning Design

The Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian has selected the winning design for the new National Native American Veterans Memorial that will be constructed on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. The winning design is from acclaimed Cheyenne-Arapaho artist Harvey Pratt of Guthrie. He is a veteran of the Marine Corps and served in Vietnam. His design is titled "Warrior's Circle of Honor" and features an elevated stainless steel circle atop an intricately carved stone drum. Groundbreaking for the memorial is slated for September 2019. It is slated to open in late 2020.
