Oklahoma Education Association President Alicia Priest on Thursday called for an end to the teacher walkout that has lasted nine days. "We are in this for the long haul and now it's time to shift our focus," she said. "So while the walkout is ending today and we are going back to school, we are not just giving up and going home. Instead we are moving on to the next phase in our ongoing efforts."
Priest said the focus now will be to elect pro-education candidates to the Legislature in November.
