DOC Cancels Jail Contracts

Oklahoma Department of Corrections Director Joe Allbaugh has cancelled jail contracts at ten Oklahoma county jails. It means those jails will no longer house DOC inmates. More than 200 DOC inmates will be moved into DOC facilities. Allbaugh says it will save about $775,000 by the end of the fiscal year. "We cannot cut anymore," said Allbaugh. "We have no mobility. We are in a dire situation and it is getting worse. This move will secure some funding. However, we will need to continue to find more areas to save."
