The arrest of a vehicle pursuit suspect last November near Stilwell has led to misdemeanor assault and battery charges against two Stilwell police officers and a former Adair County sheriff's deputy.
Adair County District Attorney Jack Thorpe tells KTOK News he filed the charges after body cam video of the arrest of 23-year-old Javier Garay was brought to his attention. "Body camera footage of the aftermath of the arrest, after he had been subdued and detained, showed that the officers committed an assault and battery on his person after he had been cuffed," Thorpe said. He said Garay was kicked after he was restrained.
The officers charged are Stilwell police officers James Glenn and Curtis Jordan and former deputy Robert McClure, who is now with the Jay Police Department according to the OSBI.
