Julia Laughlin joins News radio 1000 KTOK as our new gardening expert and co-host.  Julia holds a BS (1984) and an MS (1986) in Horticulture from Oklahoma State University. She was named Outstanding Undergraduate during this time.

     From 1987 to 1992, Julia was the Urban Integrated Pest Management Agent for the Oklahoma County Oklahoma State University Cooperative Extension Service.

      Julia is currently Associate Professor and Department Head of Horticulture at Oklahoma State University in Oklahoma City. She has been on Faculty at OSU-OKC since 1992 and became Department Head in 1999. She was awarded the Regent’s “L.E. ‘Dean’ Stringer Award for Teaching Excellence” in 2006 and has also been an official All-American Selections trial judge for vegetable varieties since 1998. In 2013, she was named Outstanding Alumni by the OSU Horticulture and Landscape Architecture Department.

     Julia is a 2006 graduate of the Class XII Oklahoma Agriculture Leadership Program. She currently arranges and guides international conservation and garden study tours.

 

 

 

Julia also operates “Bella Verde Gardens,” a small, naturally grown, fruit and vegetable business in Choctaw, OK.
