AG Hunter Says State Won't Be Bullied

The Washington, D.C. based Americans United for Separation of Church and State is again demanding the removal of the cross on top a memorial chapel at East Central University in Ada. The group has fired off a letter to State Attorney General Mike Hunter claiming it is not legal for the University to operate a Christian chapel covered in Christian images. But Hunter says the state will not be bullied. He says the group's superficial demands have no merit or legal reasoning. "We absolutely reject the demand to remove the cross or other religious materials or icons in the church," he said. "We have no desire to negotiate and we ask them to conclude correspondence with the state of Oklahoma on this matter."
