The attorney for attempted bombing suspect Jerry Varnell of Sayre has withdrawn her request for a mental examination of her client. Defense Attorney Terri Coulter on Wednesday advised a federal judge that Varnell has been examined by an independent psychologist who found him competent. Coulter says no additional psychological testing is needed at this time and she' asking the court to move forward with a detention hearing. Varnell's family claims he is a paranoid schizophrenic. Varnell is charged with trying to blow up a bank in Oklahoma City with what he thought was a vehicle bomb.
