Julius Jones won't be executed in Oklahoma. Governor Kevin Stitt commuted Jones' sentence to life in prison without parole just hours before he was set to die. Jones has spent more than half of his life in prison for a 1999 carjacking and murder. He claims he was framed by his co-defendant.
“After prayerful consideration and reviewing materials presented by all sides of this case, I have determined to commute Julius Jones’ sentence to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole," said Stitt.
