A new jail in Oklahoma County is one step closer to reality. The Oklahoma County Jail Trust voted yesterday to approve a proposal for a nearly 300-million-dollar new detention center. Funding options for the new jail include using the county's 150-million-dollars in American Rescue Plan Act funds as well as expiring bond money. Oklahoma County commissioners still have to approve the plan, and voters would have the final say in a special election.
