Following a ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court, the State of Oklahoma carried out its first execution since 2015. John Grant was executed yesterday after the Court vacated a stay issued by the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals. Oklahoma Attorney General John O'Connor filed the appeal to overturn the stay of executions for Grant and Julius Jones. Grant was convicted of murdering prison kitchen supervisor Gay Carter in 1998.
