Inmate Deaths

Two inmates at the State Penitentiary in McAlester were found dead Wednesday. Corrections officials say the deaths appear unrelated. One inmate was found dead in his bed in the prison infirmary. A second inmate was found dead in his cell after his cellmate alerted correctional officers. The Oklahoma Department of Corrections is investigating both deaths. The names of the inmates are being withheld until family members can be notified.
