The United States Postal Service (USPS) has urged voters who plan to vote by mail to do so as soon as possible. With the upcoming election on November 5, the USPS recommends mailing your ballot by Tuesday, October 29, to ensure it arrives on time. However, the USPS notes that deadlines for accepting mail-in ballots may vary by state.

The USPS is anticipating an increase in the number of ballots in the mail over the coming days and is taking measures to ensure the quick and secure delivery of each ballot.

The USPS estimates that 99.89% of mail-in ballots will be delivered to their respective counting sites within a week, with an average delivery time of about a day and a half. As we approach Election Day, the USPS is deploying extraordinary measures, including extra delivery and pickups, to accelerate the delivery of ballot mail.

The USPS has a robust and tested process for the proper handling and timely delivery of Election Mail. It provides a secure, efficient, and effective way for citizens to participate when policymakers decide to use mail as part of their elections. The USPS encourages voters to explore resources available from their state and local election authorities for information about processes, rules, deadlines, and policies specific to their state.
