What To Know About Oklahoma's Tax Free Weekend

Oklahomans can save a little cash if they go shopping this weekend.

Clothing and footwear will be tax free on August 6, 7, and 8. The tax free holiday will waive the state-wide 4.5% sales tax, but also local sales taxes.

Items under $100 that will be exempt from taxes are

  • Aprons, household and shop
  • Athletic supporters
  • Baby receiving blankets
  • Bathing suits and caps
  • Beach capes and coats
  • Belts and suspenders
  • Boots
  • Coats and jackets
  • Costumes
  • Diapers, children and adult, including disposable diapers
  • Earmuffs
  • Footlets
  • Formal wear
  • Garters and garter belts
  • Girdles
  • Gloves and mittens for general use
  • Hats and caps
  • Hosiery
  • Insoles for shoes
  • Lab coats
  • Neckties
  • Overshoes
  • Pantyhose
  • Rainwear
  • Rubber pants
  • Sandals
  • Scarves
  • Shoes and shoelaces
  • Slippers
  • Sneakers
  • Socks and stockings
  • Steel toed shoes
  • Underwear
  • Uniforms, athletic and non-athletic
  • Wedding apparel

Items that will still be charged tax include luggage, athletic attire and footwear, and accessories, like wallets, umbrellas, and watches.

The tax-free holiday will apply to in-store, online, and over-the-phone purchases. The tax exemption is also valid on discounted and returned items.
