Governor Kevin Stitt has announced he has tested positive for COVID-19.
Just a day after Oklahoma saw its largest surge in coronavirus cases, Governor Stitt announced he has tested positive. Stitt says he feels fine, but will be in quarantine at home. Stitt becomes the first governor to test positive.
“I want to use my story to remind Oklahomans that if you’re not feeling well, we want you to get tested,” Stitt said. "I personally get tested periodically throughout this whole thing. I got tested yesterday for COVID-19 and the test came back positive. I feel fine."
Stitt said, "I will be taking precautions. I am now isolated and away from my family. I'll be working at home, until it is safe to get back to normal."
So far, he says he doesn’t know where he contracted the virus but doesn’t believe that he was contagious before Saturday.
