Nik Wallenda Plans Highwire Walk Over Times Square

Daredevil Nik Wallenda will be heading to New York City for his next death-defying stunt. Wallenda announced that he and his sister, Lijana, will simultaneously cross Times Square on a highwire suspended 25 stories above the ground.

The siblings will start at opposite ends of the wire, which will be suspended between the One Times Square and 2 Times Square buildings, and make their way across.

It is the first time that Lijana is attempting a highwire walk since she was seriously injured following an accident in 2017 while practicing a complex routine in Sarasota, Florida.

"In 1928, my family performed at Madison Square Garden in the City of Dreams for the first time in the USA," Wallenda said. "And on June 23, I have the great opportunity to fulfill a lifelong dream of my own by paying homage to that performance as we return for my most exhilarating feat yet. I am beyond excited to be able to walk with my sister, Lijana, as she overcomes near-death injuries and continues the Wallenda tradition of never giving up."

The two-hour live special will air on ABC on June 23.
