Former Health Department Attorney Charged

The former general counsel for the Oklahoma State Department of Health has been charged in Oklahoma County District Court with creating and sending threatening emails to herself. The OSBI says agents were originally contacted on July 9 by a health department investigator about the emails sent to 37-year-old Julie Ezell. The OSBI has original jurisdiction over threats to public officials. The emails occured over a period from about June 8 to June 12. The OSBI says some emails implied physical harm to Ezell while others indicated the sender knew personal things about her, such as her home address. The OSBI says an examination of Ezell's cell phone revealed it was used to access the email address in question. Ezell later admitted to creating the fake email account and sending the threatening emails to herself. She resigned on Friday, July 13th. Ezell was charged with Using Access to Computers to Violate Oklahoma Statutes, False reporting of a crime, and False Preparations of Exhibits as Evidence. (photo provided by OSBI)
