Ryan: Congress to Stop Using Taxpayer Dollars to Settle Harassment Claims

INJOOn Wednesday, House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) revealed that Congress plans to stop using taxpayer dollars to settle sexual harassment claims against lawmakers.

During a radio appearance on WISN, Ryan said congressional committees are currently working on a “wholesale reform package” regarding sexual misconduct procedures. “That's among the things we're working on right now,” he said.

The former vice presidential nominee added that he thought lawmakers using taxpayer dollars to settle harassment claims is “indefensible.”

Over the past few weeks, multiple lawmakers, including Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.), Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.), and Rep. Trent Franks (R-Ariz.), announced their resignations amid sexual misconduct allegations.
